The Story

The Legend of the Jack

There was a table under the Plane Tree.

Nazif Usta

There was a coffeehouse in this neighborhood. They called it Çınaraltı — "Under the Plane Tree." The tables were felt green, the light always a little golden… and once a month, maybe twice, the fourth chair stayed empty.

There was a table under the Plane Tree.

Everyone knew him. No one knew his name.

Nazif Usta

No one ever saw him arrive — he was simply there. No one knew his real name; they just called him Jack. Because like the face-down cards, he was always hiding too.

Everyone knew him. No one knew his name.

Eight cards, one coin, one choice.

Nazif Usta

He left eight cards on the table and swept the rest away. And a coin… one face calm, the other bearing his own. "Before you decide," he said, "flip this."

Eight cards, one coin, one choice.

Stay safe — or hunt him.

Nazif Usta

Keep it straight, and you're safe. But flip the coin… and you're hunting Jack. Find him, and your story gets written tonight. Miss him, and you pay the price.

Stay safe — or hunt him.

Take a seat at the table.

Sit down. That chair was left empty for you. The coin is in front of you… the choice is yours.

Gameplay

How to play

The Layout

Each hand, 5 cards are dealt: the center one face up, the 4 corners face down. On your turn, place your pawn on a corner card.

Play Safe — Guaranteed Points

Go safe and you score standard points no matter the card.

Play Hunt — The Jack Hunt

Go hunt and you're chasing the Jack. Find it for +5! Miss it and pay a penalty.

Center Jack = ×2

If the center card is a Jack, every hunt score doubles — the Jack hunt pays up to +10!

Forced Hunt

Play safe twice in a row and you must hunt on the third hand. No playing it safe forever!

Winning

First to reach 13 points or more wins. If several players cross at once, they play an extra hand to decide it.

The signature moment

Flipping takes nerve

The table waits on your move. The pawn flips, the card turns — and either the Jack grins back at you, or you write down the penalty. This is exactly when the table holds its breath.

Modes

Wherever the table is set

2–6 players, one phone

Pass-and-play: the phone goes around the table, no internet needed. At a café, on a trip, after dinner.

Against bots

Three difficulties: Easy, Normal, Hard. The Hard bot really does the math — cautious when ahead, fearless when behind.

Online with friends

Share a 6-digit invite code and sit at the same table. No account, no sign-up; empty seats can be filled with bots.

Quick Play — with strangers

Join the queue and match with whoever is playing right now. The match runs on the server: nobody can peek at the cards or write their own score.

Progress and competition

It carries on after you leave the table

Every online match you play lands in your profile. You claim your own nickname, your statistics build up, and you see where you stand on the weekly and monthly boards.

A nickname that is yours

It is unique; that name represents you at the table and on the board. The first one is free.

Statistics that add up

Matches played and won, your successful Jack hunts, your best single-hand score, your win streaks.

Weekly and monthly boards

The top 100 plus your own rank. Every period starts from zero — joining late still means a fair race.

Good to know

Quick answers

Can I play offline?

Yes. Pass-and-play and bot games work fully offline; only the online modes need a connection.

Can I play with strangers?

Yes, Quick Play matches you with whoever is playing right now. To be straight with you: if there are not enough people in the queue, empty seats fill with bots after a short wait.

Is the game free?

Completely free; ads only appear between games, never mid-hand. Everything purchasable is visual — no advantage is ever sold.

What does playing reversed mean?

Placing your pawn flipped means you’re hunting the Jack that hand: +5 if you find it, a penalty otherwise. High risk, high reward.
